beatiful location, the most comfortable bed during our whole holiday and the nicest staff! Massimo met us and helped us find a park for the car and took our bags to the apartment. We also were recommended the best restaurant to eat in, it was absolutely amazing food! lamb cutlets with pistachio and local pasta! yuuuum

The truth is this: Erice Pietre Antiche is one of our favorite places to stay anywhere/ever. The tone is set by Massimo, the manager of the property, who is as nice and helpful as can be. He was there to greet us at Porta Trapani (where the funicular and a parking lot are), help us with our bags, take us to the hotel, show us around and explain things about our room, and Erice in general (restaurants, what to see and do, etc.). He then gives you space but in no way ignores you– to the contrary, he gives you his cell number and is available 24/7 if the need arises, and is there at the hotel every morning to offer advice if you want or need it. There are, I think, four rooms/suites, we were in the one called “Ginestra.” It is more like an apartment, really. The bedroom is spacious, bed comfy, the living room is just right to relax, and– lo and behold– when you open the armoire in the living room, there is a kitchen with sink, fridge, burners, coffee maker (the stove-top Italian style espresso kind) and coffee, sugar, salt, olive oil, etc., anything you would need to cook if you so desired. There is a small grocery store about a 3 minute walk for supplies, and an enoteca even closer to satisfy your wine desires. The bathroom is very nice, the lower walls and shower are mosaic-tiled using ancient ceramic tile Massimo found in the basement of the more than 500 year-old property during the renovation (which was finished in the spring of 2010). Outside the front door, to the left and up a few steps is a very nice and private sitting area to relax with a glass of wine– or whatever. Breakfast is not included, but if you want to use the kitchen, it is a good opportunity, and also there are 3 places within a 2 minute walk where you can get coffee and a bite to eat. WiFi is not listed as an amenity, but in fact you do have internet access, just ask Massimo. This might have changed, but I don’t think so.

Masimo was a great host. The room one bedroom and a living room with a mini kitchens was clean, modern and perfect for 2 people. Huge bath by Italy’s standards. Beautiful courtyard and deck, Situated in the heart of Erice with many restaurants within walking distance.

For the price of a regular B & B, we had an apartment. The building was redone 2 years ago and everything was beautifully done. Our host, Massimo, gave us good directions and was very dependable meeting us and taking us to and from our car. Wish we could have stayed longer.
